Motiva Enterprises is a petro-chemical company partially owned by Shell Oil.
Petro-chemical companies face many risks when storing and distributing hazardous materials. Corporations processing chemicals and petroleum must prevent emergencies that can endanger employees, environments, and people living around their facilities. Firms do not want the reputation damage that comes with an explosion or security breach, so rigorous security systems are a must.
Motiva hired Sabre Integrated Systems to work on one security installation in a petro-chemical plant in New Jersey. This initial opportunity led Sabre to working at eight separate Motiva sites throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, supporting perimeter security, compliance, and process control.
The surveillance system Sabre installed enables Motiva to monitor whether employees are following operational safety procedures, which helps with compliance policies and ensuring a clean audit. The security equipment consists of viewing gauges and monitoring equipment, enabling operators to oversee employee and visitor activity at fuel tankers and filling stations.
Sabre’s team of technicians obtained Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) certifications to allow them to work near oil tankers, in compliance with with Coast Guard guidelines.
Motiva Enterprises’ security personnel benefit from a security plan that allows them to monitor – from one central location – an entire operation spanning acres of property. Facilities managers can watch for any errors that could result in an oil spill, allowing them to immediately dispatch a team in response to emergency situations.
